Finally the first of a multi-part remix series arrives on Revolver Canada. The RECOLLECTION REMIX SERIES VOL. 1" is an exploration of early catalog classics, re-contextualized by some of our favourite artists. A three continent extravaganza of Philadelphia's Someone Else, Basel's Shaka and Tokyo's Akiko Kiyama, taking turns on mixing our catalog. America vs. Japan with Switzerland in the middle, just like WW2. ;) It seemed appropriate that the first EP contains remixes of tracks that defined the forthcoming careers of artists that essentially started on Revolver Canada, including Pan/Tone, Jeff Milligan and Deadbeat. French Canada vs. English Canada. And all distributed by the wonderful German folks at WordandSound. Ah… peace and love! SIDE A) 1. JEFF MILLIGAN AND ROBIN ROY'S "DUE CORDE" (SOMEONE ELSE'S OKONOMIYAKI REMIX) : Rolling back to '99… Sean delivers a killer remix that isn't particularly different from the original cause of course the original is so delectable. Sean takes it up a notch with some nouveau minimal treatments whilst maintaining the relentless break of the original that splits the dancefloor in two. So while we regret to use such cliché's, this one is a serious peak-time roof raiser. SIDE B) 1. PAN/TONE'S "GRINGO GRINDER" (SHAKA'S SWISS CHEESE REMIX) : A nice and appropriate, cerebral take on Pan/Tone's old school sound. SIDE B) 2. DEADBEAT'S "MISO" (AKIKO KIYAMA'S MISO BUTTER REMIX) : Akiko said that Deadbeat's "Miso" was somehow close to her heart. Mmm, miso, fermented soybeans… one of our favourites. Please refer to the one sheet of Revolver0009 for some great recipes.
